When Nibble went viral on X…

This week, Nibble went viral on X amongst AI enthusiasts. Turns out, going viral is overrated.

Yes, people tried to hack Nibble. No, they did not succeed. Let us break down the facts for you…

The timeline of events:

On July 15th 2024, X user @GjMcGowan shared Nibble to their followers when looking to purchase a new mattress from Eve Sleep.

Over the next 24 hours, this Tweet went on to receive 2 million views and attract a group of tech and AI enthusiasts looking to stress-test Nibble on our own demo website.

One X user, @elder_plinius, claimed they had managed to override Nibble’s algorithm by sharing a screenshot that showed Nibble accepting a 99.99% discount.

However, this was faked. The widget display had been edited using Browser Developer Tools to alter the text displayed in the Nibble widget. No real discount of this amount was applied, and Nibble’s algorithms continued to operate as designed.

@elder_plinius admitted their hoax in a reply to their original screenshot, sharing a screen recording of how they had created the fake screenshot.

Other users visiting Nibble’s demo also tried to prompt hack or trick Nibble – none succeeded.

Nibble’s systems continued to perform as expected during this viral activity.

What makes Nibble a win-win?

HeroFrom Day 1, Nibble has been designed with the goal of finding a win-win for both the shopper and the customer.

Response to the Tweet was divisive, with a mix of enthusiasts and those worried negotiation could prevent them from getting the best deal.

Variable pricing remains a controversial topic in retail – almost curiously so. Nibble clients in Dubai and India see negotiation as a normal, even crucial art of building a relationship with a customer. Even in the UK and USA, we see variable pricing all the time for airline tickets and hotels.

AI negotiations can empower customers and brands to talk to each other one-on-one at scale. Customers don’t need to wait for the sales – AI negotiation gives them agency and their voice is heard by the brand.

Price-based negotiations with Nibble take less than a minute on average – much faster than human-human negotiations, without any need to wait hours for a response to offers.

Better yet, our user research shows 85% of people prefer negotiating with a chatbot over a human. With a chatbot, users feel they can be more honest and open about their circumstances and offers.
